Des Moines, IA – Western Iowa is experiencing patchy dense fog this morning, particularly in valley areas, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Des Moines. The fog, which is expected to lift by 8 AM, is causing visibility issues, reducing it to a quarter mile or less in some locations.
According to the NWS, the fog has developed mainly in the southwest regions, including parts of Cass and Adair Counties, extending into Adams and Taylor Counties. Drivers are urged to use low beam headlights and maintain extra distance from other vehicles. Caution is advised, especially at intersections, due to rapidly changing visibility conditions.
The weather forecast for Des Moines and surrounding areas shows a clear progression after the fog dissipates. Today’s high will reach 85°F, with partly cloudy conditions expected around 2 PM. The rest of the week promises sunny skies, with highs ranging from 86°F on Wednesday and Thursday to 89°F on Saturday. The temperature is projected to climb further, reaching 92°F by Sunday and peaking at 94°F early next week.
