Florida — Cool air feels almost foreign across Central Florida this morning, with a crisp breeze sliding through palms and empty streets. Jackets are back out, and the shift feels sudden.

A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect early Tuesday for parts of Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties. Wind chills could dip as low as 27 degrees, a sharp contrast to recent warmth. A Freeze Watch follows from late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, with temperatures expected to fall near or below 32 degrees, especially in outlying areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, sub-freezing temperatures may reach as low as 30 degrees in colder pockets away from urban centers. Sensitive vegetation, outdoor plumbing, and exposed pipes are at risk.

Daytime conditions remain pleasant for now, with sunshine pushing highs into the mid-50s Tuesday. That warmth fades quickly after sunset. Clear skies and light winds allow heat to escape fast, setting the stage for frost and freeze conditions by early Wednesday.

Residents in Orlando, Kissimmee, Winter Park, Sanford, and surrounding communities should take action. Cover tender plants, bring pets indoors, and protect outdoor faucets. Travelers heading out early Wednesday may notice frost on windshields and bridges, especially in low-lying areas.

Cold mornings linger midweek before a gradual warmup arrives late week. Highs climb back into the upper 50s and low 60s by Thursday and Friday, though cool nights continue.

Looking farther ahead, longer-range outlooks show drier conditions and a warming trend spreading across the Southeast into early February.

Prepare now while conditions are calm. Did temperatures drop sharply where you live last night? Share what you’re seeing across Central Florida.
