Tampa, Florida – Florida’s brutal summer heat kicks into high gear Memorial Day as Tampa residents face sweltering temps and daily storm chances all week.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday’s high in Tampa could reach 93°F, with heat index values peaking near 100°F by late afternoon. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop after 2 p.m., potentially impacting outdoor plans, barbecues, and regional travel. Drivers on I-275 and U.S. 92 should prepare for brief but intense downpours and possible lightning delays through Monday evening.

Tuesday and Wednesday continue the storm trend, with partly sunny skies early, followed by scattered thunderstorms each afternoon and evening. Highs will remain in the mid-90s, and calm winds will shift to a southeast breeze by midweek. Tuesday’s storm window also opens after 2 p.m., while Wednesday’s chances increase to 50%.

By Thursday and Friday, daytime highs drop slightly to around 91°F, but humid air and daily rain chances persist. Isolated showers could begin by late morning both days, with peak activity in the afternoon and early evening hours.

Looking ahead, Tampa’s five-day outlook includes continued muggy conditions, afternoon thunderstorms, and minimal overnight cooling. Lows will hover near 76°F each night, offering little relief. Thunderstorm coverage could fluctuate, but daily rain remains likely through at least Saturday.

Safety Tip: Stay hydrated, avoid outdoor work during peak heat, and monitor weather alerts if you’re near the water or commuting.

Next Update: Additional advisories may be issued if rainfall totals or lightning activity increase. Stay tuned to NWS Tampa Bay for updates.
