Miami, FL – Thunderstorms will begin rolling through Miami by Monday afternoon, bringing heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and the potential for lightning. The National Weather Service is urging residents to stay alert as storms are expected to move into the area from 2 p.m. and may continue into the evening. The risk for dangerous travel conditions is high, with localized flooding and reduced visibility anticipated.
According to the NWS, Miami will experience thunderstorms and showers with a 60% chance of rain starting around 2 p.m. Temperatures will remain warm, reaching a high of 87°F, but the storms could significantly drop temperatures. Winds are expected from the southwest at 7 to 9 mph, with gusts possibly reaching 25 mph during heavier rain bursts. There is also a 60% chance of thunderstorms after 5 p.m., so be prepared for a busy evening of weather-related disruptions.
In addition, Tuesday’s forecast calls for more thunderstorms throughout the day, with a high near 83°F. These storms could bring a similar level of intensity to Monday, including possible flash flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage.
For residents planning to travel, keep in mind that storm-related delays are possible, particularly for roads like I-95 and the Turnpike. Motorists are advised to avoid driving during the peak of the storms, especially if visibility becomes poor.
Looking ahead, Miami will continue to see unsettled weather throughout the week, with thunderstorms and rain expected to affect the area each day. The NWS forecasts a 50% chance of rain for the latter half of the week, and conditions will stay humid, with temperatures remaining above average.
