Florida Weather Alert: Midnight Freeze Warning, 19° Wind Chills and 35 MPH Gusts Through 9 AM Monday

Jacksonville, Florida – Protect pipes, pets and plants now as temperatures fall below freezing by midnight, with wind chills dropping to 19 degrees before sunrise Monday across northeast Florida and southeast Georgia.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. EST Sunday with northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph and gusts up to 35 mph. A Freeze Warning begins at midnight and continues until 9 a.m. Monday, with lows near 30 degrees. A Cold Weather Advisory runs from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday as wind chills dip into the upper teens. Another Freeze Watch is posted from late Monday night through Tuesday morning, when temperatures could fall as low as 25 degrees.

In Florida, Baker, Nassau, Hamilton and northern Columbia counties, including Macclenny, Hilliard and Jasper, will see several hours below freezing. Along the I-95 corridor in Camden and Glynn counties, including Kingsland, St. Simons Island and Brunswick, sub-freezing temperatures will threaten exposed plumbing and sensitive vegetation.

In southeast Georgia, communities such as Waycross, Douglas, Alma and Folkston should prepare for wind chills near 20 degrees early Monday. Residents should wrap outdoor pipes, allow faucets to drip, bring pets indoors and cover tender plants.

Warnings remain in effect through Monday morning, with another round of freezing temperatures possible late Monday night into Tuesday.
