Tallahassee, FL – Rain, thunderstorms, and flash flooding are in the forecast for Tallahassee this weekend. Starting Thursday, expect waves of heavy rain and the potential for flash flooding, particularly from Saturday to Monday. These storms, which may drop 4-8 inches of rain, come as a low-pressure system lingers over the region, bringing unsettled conditions for several days.

According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest rainfall is likely between Saturday and Monday, and areas could see more than 10 inches of rain in isolated spots. Flash flood risks are rising, especially in areas with poor drainage or low-lying terrain. Local officials are advising residents to be prepared for potential flash floods, particularly near roadways like US Highway 90 and I-10.

As the weekend progresses, conditions will worsen. By Saturday, storms will become more frequent, with the chance of thunderstorms at 90%. Given the already dry conditions in the region, rainfall will help saturate the ground, increasing the likelihood of flash flooding. Make sure to stay informed on flood warnings, as rainfall totals may adjust in real-time.

Tallahassee residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas with already saturated soils. With Mother’s Day on Sunday, be sure to account for the chance of storms disrupting outdoor events.

Stay updated on the latest forecasts and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions. If the forecast strengthens, a flood watch may be issued for parts of the area.

The extended five-day forecast shows temperatures in the mid-80s through Friday, with the rain continuing into the weekend. Sunday’s forecast includes a 70% chance of showers, while Monday brings a brief respite with clear skies before more rain returns by Tuesday.

Be cautious on the roads and keep your emergency kit ready.
