Jacksonville, FL – A freeze warning remains in effect for northern Florida and southeast Georgia, with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 20°F anticipated until 9 a.m. Saturday. A second freeze warning has been issued from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday for the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, wind chills are expected to drop to as low as 20°F in areas including Duval, Clay, Alachua, and Nassau counties. Residents are urged to take precautions to protect pets, plants, and pipes. Vulnerable populations, including children, the elderly, and the homeless, should be prioritized for care during these freezing conditions.

The advisory includes recommendations such as wearing layered clothing, hats, and gloves to prevent hypothermia or frostbite. Residents should also allow water pipes to drip slowly to avoid freezing and protect tender vegetation.

Wind chills this low are uncommon in the region and could result in frost damage or potential health risks if precautions are not taken. Coastal areas, including Fernandina Beach and St. Augustine, will experience slightly milder temperatures but remain under advisory until Sunday morning.
