Miami, FL – A cold front sweeping across South Florida today will bring scattered showers, thunderstorms, and a steep drop in temperatures overnight. Residents should prepare for gusty winds and chilly conditions as temperatures fall into the 40s by Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon, with stronger storms possible near coastal areas. Winds will shift, bringing cooler air behind the front. Overnight lows are forecasted to dip into the 40s inland, with coastal cities like Miami and Fort Lauderdale experiencing lows in the mid-50s.
Drivers along I-75 and other major roadways should exercise caution as breezy conditions may reduce visibility during periods of rainfall. Hazardous marine conditions are also expected, with a high risk of rip currents along all Atlantic beaches. Officials urge beachgoers and boaters to avoid the water until conditions improve on Thursday.
Thursday will start off chilly and partly cloudy, with highs struggling to reach 73°F across most of the region. Breezy northeast winds of up to 25 mph will persist, making it feel even cooler. The cooler trend continues into the weekend, with Friday and Saturday bringing sunny skies but highs only reaching the upper 70s.
Residents are advised to layer clothing for the next few mornings and secure outdoor items to prevent wind damage.
