Tallahassee, Florida – Locally heavy rainfall could trigger flash flooding across North Florida through Friday, with the highest risk stretching along the I-10 corridor and into surrounding counties.
According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, most areas will receive 1 to 2 inches of rain, but zones with a 50% or higher chance of exceeding 3 inches are under elevated flood risk. These include parts of Leon, Gadsden, Jackson, and Wakulla counties, where saturated soils and poor drainage increase the threat of water accumulation.
The region is also under a Level 1 Marginal Risk for severe storms today through Friday evening. Isolated damaging wind gusts, small hail, and frequent lightning are possible during afternoon and evening hours, particularly along I-10 and extending south into coastal counties.
Residents should avoid driving through flooded roadways, and urban areas may see rapid runoff and street flooding. If you encounter water-covered roads, remember: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
Weather conditions may intensify heading into Friday night. More alerts and updates are expected as the system develops.
