Orlando, FL – Storms could disrupt midweek routines in Central Florida as summer heat and afternoon thunderstorm chances increase Wednesday across Orlando.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, showers and thunderstorms are likely after 11 a.m. Wednesday, with a 30% chance of rain initially. Temperatures will push back up to 93°F by mid-afternoon before storms may cool things slightly. Winds will be light and out of the south, helping fuel convection and increasing storm chances through the afternoon.

Localized downpours, brief gusty winds, and lightning are possible with any cells that develop. Motorists along I-4 and State Road 408 should anticipate slick roads and brief travel slowdowns after lunch.

Rain chances jump to 60% by Wednesday night, with showers lingering until around 11 p.m. Drier air briefly moves in overnight, but Thursday and Friday will bring higher thunderstorm probabilities at 70% each day, with continued highs in the low 90s.

Those with outdoor plans should keep mobile alerts on, hydrate often, and avoid open fields or water during storms.
