Florida residents should prepare for a turbulent weather pattern starting Sunday, with strong storms, hazardous surf conditions, and fire risks expected through early next week. The National Weather Service warns of increased threats, particularly along the Atlantic coast and inland areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, a moderate to high risk of life-threatening rip currents will persist at central Florida’s Atlantic beaches through at least Thursday. Surf conditions will be especially dangerous at night, and beachgoers are strongly discouraged from entering the water. Boating conditions will also deteriorate over the weekend as winds pick up.
An approaching cold front will bring an increased chance of thunderstorms Sunday evening through Monday morning. Some storms could become severe, with damaging winds, heavy rain, and lightning. Fire-sensitive conditions will return early next week as lower humidity levels dry out the region.
Looking ahead, the five-day forecast indicates a mix of sunshine and rain, with temperatures in the upper 80s on Sunday before cooling to the low 70s by Tuesday. St. Patrick’s Day on Monday is expected to start with lingering showers but will clear up by the afternoon.
Residents should remain vigilant and check local forecasts regularly. Beachgoers should heed surf advisories, and boaters are urged to avoid hazardous waters.
