Tampa, FL – Spring weather is bringing sunshine and warm temperatures to Florida, but beachgoers in the Tampa Bay area should be cautious. The National Weather Service has issued a high rip current risk from Monday morning through Monday evening, affecting Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, and Lee counties.
According to the National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin, dangerous rip currents can develop along the Gulf Coast, pulling even strong swimmers into deeper water. Officials urge beach visitors to swim near a lifeguard, avoid swimming alone, and never fight against a rip current. If caught, swimmers should float, remain calm, and signal for help.
Despite the ocean hazard, inland conditions will be mostly clear and warm. Tuesday’s forecast calls for a high of 74°F with north-northwest winds around 9 mph. Overnight lows will dip to 52°F with calmer winds.
Looking ahead, the Tampa Bay area will see sunny skies through the rest of the week, with temperatures gradually rising into the upper 70s by Thursday. Nights will remain mostly clear, with lows in the mid-50s to low 60s.
While the pleasant spring weather makes for great outdoor plans, beachgoers should remain vigilant near the water. For updates, check local advisories before heading to the coast.
