Tallahassee, FL – One more active day of widespread showers and thunderstorms is expected across the Florida Panhandle, Big Bend, southeast Alabama, and southwest Georgia before a more typical summertime weather pattern returns Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move across the region throughout Tuesday. Some storms could produce gusty winds, torrential rainfall, and localized flash flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage.

Forecasters have placed much of the region under a Level 1 of 4 (Marginal) Risk for excessive rainfall. Most locations are expected to receive 1 to 2 inches of rain, but isolated communities could see 3 inches or more where thunderstorms repeatedly track over the same area.

The greatest concern will be localized flooding of low-lying roads, intersections, and other poor drainage locations. While widespread flooding is not anticipated, motorists should never attempt to drive through flooded roadways.

The affected area includes much of the Florida Panhandle, Florida Big Bend, southeast Alabama, and southwest Georgia.

Beginning Wednesday, weather conditions are expected to shift back toward a more typical midsummer pattern, featuring scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms rather than multiple rounds of widespread rainfall.

Residents are encouraged to monitor the forecast throughout the day, have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions if thunderstorms approach.
