Tallahassee, Florida – A stalled front over the Southeast is expected to dump up to 6 inches of rain across the Florida Panhandle through the weekend, raising concerns about localized flooding from Apalachicola to Valdosta.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, widespread rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches are likely across the region, with locally higher amounts between 4 and 6 inches possible starting Thursday and lasting into Sunday. The highest risk for excessive rainfall arrives Thursday afternoon and continues through Saturday, with a marginal (level 1 of 4) flood threat in place.

Communities including Tallahassee, Bainbridge, and Cross City face a 90% chance of rain by Friday, with precipitation lingering through early next week. Low-lying areas, poor-drainage zones, and roadways prone to ponding may see the most significant impacts. Flash flooding could occur where heavy bands stall or repeat.

Residents are urged to monitor updated forecasts, avoid travel during periods of heavy rain, and prepare alternate plans for any weekend outdoor activities. Charge devices, clear storm drains, and keep an emergency kit handy.

Rain chances remain high through Monday, and additional advisories may be issued as the system evolves.
