Miami, Florida – Scattered thunderstorms could soak parts of South Florida this afternoon, with Palmdale facing the highest rain chances at 58% and Clewiston close behind at 48%.
According to the National Weather Service in Miami, isolated to scattered thunderstorms are most likely to develop across the western half of South Florida late Tuesday afternoon into the early evening. The Lake Okeechobee region stands to see the most widespread rainfall, while eastern cities like Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach face lower odds, with rain chances of just 19% and 24% respectively.
Naples, where temperatures are expected to top out at 88°F, may see a 35% chance of rain. Farther inland, Immokalee sits at 51% while the Everglades City area could see a 39% chance of afternoon storms. Warm and humid air will dominate across the region, with highs in the mid to upper 80s from Miami to West Palm Beach.
Residents in western communities are urged to monitor skies closely this afternoon and avoid outdoor plans if thunder is heard nearby. If driving, use extra caution on wet roads and allow extra travel time during pop-up downpours.
Storm chances diminish overnight, but more showers may return later in the week.
