Florida Man with Prior Felonies Allegedly Hid Swords in Jackson County Shop

Marianna, FL – A Florida man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly bringing concealed swords into a Jackson County business.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded March 25, 2025, to a call about a man behaving aggressively in a business parking lot. Witnesses reported the suspect appeared to be carrying a shotgun wrapped in a sweatshirt on his back before entering the store.

Deputies arrived and detained the man, identified as Joshuah Voyles. While no weapon was found on him directly, authorities located four swords wrapped in a gray sweatshirt elsewhere in the store among Voyles’ belongings. Voyles allegedly admitted the swords were his.

The Sheriff’s Office further stated that Voyles has seven prior felony convictions in Florida. As a result, he was arrested and charged with Felon in Possession of a Concealed Weapon.

Authorities have not reported any injuries from the incident. The Sheriff’s Office did not confirm whether any threats were made to staff or customers.

Residents are encouraged to report suspicious behavior immediately. The investigation remains ongoing.
