Tampa, FL – A Hillsborough County man has been arrested after allegedly making violent threats toward Amazon following his termination from the company, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Christopher Allen Colontonio, 29, was taken into custody on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Investigators allege that on September 27, just days earlier, Colontonio sent two emails to the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Ruskin threatening the company and referencing acts of violence.

He now faces charges of making a written or electronic threat to kill or cause bodily harm, as well as making a written or electronic threat to conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism.

Sheriff Chad Chronister said the arrest highlights the seriousness of threats made online. “We will not tolerate anyone who tries to intimidate or spread fear in our community,” Chronister said. “This is a clear reminder that words have consequences. If you think you can hide behind a keyboard and threaten the safety of others, you are mistaken. Our detectives will find you, and you will be held accountable.”

Authorities have not disclosed whether security measures were heightened at the fulfillment center following the emails. No additional suspects have been identified.

The sheriff’s office said the case remains under investigation.
