Melbourne, FL – Florida is bracing for another sweltering afternoon with highs in the low 90s and heat indices reaching around 107 degrees. A Major to Moderate HeatRisk is in effect for most of the region, posing significant risks to residents.

According to the US National Weather Service Melbourne, Florida, this extreme heat will be accompanied by high humidity levels. All of East Central Florida, including cities like Leesburg, Orlando, Daytona Beach, and Melbourne, will experience this intense weather. The heat index is predicted to soar between 102 and 107 degrees, making outdoor activities hazardous.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, reduce time outdoors between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., and wear light, loose-fitting clothing. It’s crucial to take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas and never leave children or pets in cars.

Additionally, there is a chance of storm development in the afternoon, particularly to the south. The storms could bring gusty winds of 40-50 mph, frequent lightning, and minor flooding due to 1-3 inches of rainfall.

Beachgoers should note a moderate risk of rip currents at all beaches. It’s important to always swim near a lifeguard and never enter the ocean alone.
