TALLAHASSEE, FL – Several areas in the Florida Panhandle and parts of southeast Alabama are bracing for significant rainfall as the weekend unfolds, with heavy rain forecasted to continue through Sunday. Widespread totals of 2 to 3 inches are expected, but localized areas could see up to 5 inches, prompting a Flood Watch for many regions.

According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest rainfall is anticipated to hit the region Sunday, with some of the strongest storms pushing through the Panhandle and Florida’s Big Bend. As of early Saturday, parts of Bay County, including Panama City, have already received 2 to 3 inches, with additional rain expected to fall through the weekend. The heaviest accumulations will likely occur in areas like Blountstown, where 3 to 4 inches are predicted, and Tallahassee, which may see similar totals.

Local authorities are urging residents in affected areas to stay alert for possible flash flooding, especially along low-lying roads and near streams and rivers. With more rain still on the way, roads may become hazardous, and power outages could occur due to the intensity of the storms.

As the rainfall continues into Sunday and Monday, a Flood Watch will remain in effect, and additional warnings could be issued. Residents should prepare for potential flooding and stay weather-aware through the weekend.
