According to the National Weather Service, a risk of severe thunderstorms is in effect for areas including Boise, Caldwell, and Mountain Home, with the highest chance of storms occurring between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. MDT. Cities such as Boise, Emmett, and Ontario could see high temperatures reaching 90°F or higher, further fueling the storm development. The storms will likely cause travel disruptions along major roads, including I-84 and Highway 95, especially for anyone headed through the Snake River Plain. With near-record heat expected, residents are advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.
