Pulaski County, MO – Rising floodwaters forced the Missouri State Highway Patrol to shut down both directions of I-44 on Wednesday following a crash near mile marker 166, close to the Big Piney River bridge. The incident involved a tractor-trailer and a passenger car, though all occupants reportedly exited their vehicles safely.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, water from the Big Piney River has overflowed onto the interstate, impacting eastbound and westbound lanes. Authorities have temporarily closed all lanes to ensure driver safety amid the hazardous conditions.

Emergency crews are actively managing the scene, working to assess both the water level and the accident. The Missouri State Highway Patrol urges drivers to seek alternate routes as the road may remain closed until floodwaters recede and the area is deemed safe for travel.
