Baltimore, MD – With the increasing threat of heavy rainfall through tonight, a Flood Watch has been issued across northeastern Maryland, effective until 4 AM. Residents are urged to prepare for multiple rounds of thunderstorms that could produce torrential downpours.
According to the US National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington, areas including Bel Air, Elkton, and Westminster are under alert. The weather service emphasizes that the potential for heavy rain could lead to rapid rises in rivers, streams, and other low-lying areas. Urban areas, especially those with poor drainage, are particularly susceptible to flooding.
The forecast predicts several rounds of thunderstorms moving through the region. These storms could bring localized heavy rain, increasing the risk of flash flooding. The National Weather Service advises residents to stay informed about weather updates and avoid travel in flood-prone areas if possible.
