Shreveport, LA – A Flood Watch is in effect for portions of northern Louisiana, far east Texas, and southwest Arkansas as rounds of heavy rain are expected through Wednesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, rainfall totals between 2-4 inches are likely, with locally higher amounts possible. The heaviest rain is expected along the I-30 corridor and areas eastward. Forecasters warn that excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas, rivers, creeks, and roads.

Periods of heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue through Wednesday, with a 50-75% chance of areas receiving more than 3 inches of rain. Motorists should remain cautious as standing water and flash flooding may impact travel.

Officials urge residents in flood-prone areas to stay alert, avoid driving on flooded roads, and monitor weather updates. For the latest alerts, visit weather.gov/shv.
