Hallock, MN – The National Weather Service in Grand Forks has issued a Flood Watch for the Two Rivers River near Hallock, in Kittson County, effective from Thursday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon.

As of Wednesday morning, the river stage measured 799.1 feet, just below the minor flood stage of 802 feet. Forecasters say the river could reach flood stage by Thursday afternoon, prompting preparations for potential overbank flooding in low-lying areas near the Hallock Dam and Gilbert Park.

According to the Weather Service, flooding impacts begin around 802 feet, when the dam’s spillway is closed to the public and local crews begin monitoring culverts and drainage valves. If river levels rise to 804.5 feet, water could back up along Reach 2 Dike and Cemetery Road at 6th Street South.

Residents and property owners near the river are urged to monitor river levels closely, move valuables to higher ground, and prepare for possible flood warnings in the coming days.
