Lake Charles, LA – Flood warnings remain in effect for portions of Louisiana and Texas as water levels on the Calcasieu and Sabine rivers continue to cause minor flooding.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Lake Charles, the Calcasieu River near Oberlin remains above flood stage at 13.2 feet as of Friday morning. The river is expected to drop below flood stage later in the day and continue falling through early next week.
The Calcasieu River near Glenmora is also experiencing minor flooding, with levels at 13.3 feet Friday morning. The river is forecast to crest at 13.5 feet before beginning a gradual decline, expected to drop below flood stage by Monday evening.
Meanwhile, the Sabine River near Deweyville remains above flood stage at 24.8 feet, with little change expected in the coming days. Flooding has impacted low-lying roads near Deweyville and Southwest Beauregard Parish, with some access roads to homes and parks becoming impassable.
Residents in affected areas are urged to monitor local forecasts and exercise caution when traveling near flood-prone roads. The NWS will provide the next update at 3 a.m. CST Saturday.
