Burlington, VT – A flood warning has been issued for parts of Vermont and New York, including Chittenden and Franklin Counties in Vermont, as well as Clinton County in New York. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Burlington announced the warning early Friday afternoon, effective until 3:15 PM EDT.
According to the NWS, heavy rainfall is expected to trigger flooding in small creeks, streams, and low-lying areas. The most vulnerable areas include country roads, farmlands, and other spots prone to water accumulation. Residents in the affected regions are urged to exercise caution, avoid flooded roads, and heed the warning, “Turn around, don’t drown.”
As of 12:15 PM, radar imagery showed heavy rainfall moving through the region, with the highest risk concentrated in the areas surrounding Grand Isle, Swanton, North Hero, and Alburg in Vermont, as well as parts of Plattsburgh in New York. Flooding is expected to begin shortly, and residents are advised to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions.
