Richmond, VA – Virginia is under a flash flood watch today as a frontal boundary and very moist airmass move over the area. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wakefield issued the watch early this morning, warning residents of potential flooding through most of the day.

According to the NWS, the flood watch is in effect until 10 p.m. and includes several regions, notably the Hampton Roads and Richmond metro areas. The areas at risk extend to Petersburg, Williamsburg, Norfolk, and surrounding communities. Forecasters highlight that heavy rainfall is expected, which could lead to flash flooding in low-lying and poorly drained areas.

Local authorities urge residents to stay informed and take precautions.
