The National Weather Service (NWS) has cautioned residents about rising water levels and dangerous road conditions in several parishes and counties.
According to the NWS in Shreveport, Louisiana, flash flood warnings are in effect for Grant, Winn, and Natchitoches Parishes until 12:30 p.m. CDT. Radar has indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall, leading to potential flash flooding in areas including Natchitoches, Montgomery, and Campti.
Further east, Ouachita, Caldwell, Union, and Jackson Parishes are also experiencing flash flooding, with warnings set to expire at 12:15 p.m. CDT. The Monroe area, including West Monroe and Richwood, is particularly at risk due to significant rainfall accumulation.
In Arkansas, flash flood warnings cover Arkansas, Desha, and Drew Counties until noon CDT, with rainfall totals reaching 3 inches in some locations. Cities such as Monticello, Dumas, and McGehee are expected to see continued heavy precipitation.
Meanwhile, in Mississippi, Bolivar County, including Cleveland, Shaw, and Mound Bayou, remains under a flash flood warning until noon CDT, with additional rain anticipated. In northern Mississippi, DeSoto and Tate Counties are also experiencing flash flooding conditions through 11:30 a.m. CDT.
Residents in affected areas are advised to avoid flooded roadways, as most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles. Authorities urge caution and recommend monitoring local updates for further developments.
