Wausau, WI – A flash flood warning has been issued for parts of Marathon County, including Wausau, effective until 6:45 PM CDT today. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay announced the warning at 3:48 PM, alerting residents to the potential dangers.
According to the NWS, 1-2 inches of rain have already fallen, with an additional 1-2 inches expected in the warned area. No road closures have been reported yet, but water is starting to accumulate on some roads. Authorities are urging residents to move immediately to higher ground and avoid walking or driving through floodwaters.
The affected areas include Wausau, Rothschild, and Weston. The flash flood warning encompasses a population of 69,942 people, 20 schools, and 3 hospitals, highlighting the extensive impact of the severe weather.
