Bowling Green, KY – A flash flood warning has been issued for multiple counties in south-central Kentucky, including Allen, Barren, Simpson, and Warren counties, as heavy thunderstorms continue to drench the region. The warning remains in effect until 11:30 p.m. CDT Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, Doppler radar detected between 2 and 3 inches of rainfall across the affected areas by 7:32 p.m., with an additional 0.5 to 1.5 inches possible. The heavy rainfall is expected to cause flash flooding in low-lying areas, small creeks, urban streets, and underpasses.

Authorities warn residents in Bowling Green, Scottsville, Franklin, and surrounding communities to be cautious of rising water levels. Flash flooding is ongoing or imminent, and officials urge motorists to avoid flooded roads, as most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles. The National Weather Service advises, “Turn around, don’t drown.”

Residents should remain alert, especially at night when flooding dangers become harder to detect. Emergency services recommend moving to higher ground if necessary and monitoring local weather updates for further instructions.
