Gaylord, MI – A powerful Arctic air mass will sweep across Michigan starting Monday, bringing bitter cold, subzero wind chills, and frequent snow showers. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions and dangerously low temperatures throughout the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, snow will persist into Monday, with highs struggling to reach the low teens. Wind chills could drop as low as -15°F, posing a risk of frostbite in minutes. A winter weather advisory remains in effect through Sunday evening for Northern Lower Michigan, with additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches expected.

By Tuesday, lake-effect snow will intensify, especially near the Lake Michigan shoreline, with another 2 to 4 inches possible. Winds will remain strong, creating blowing and drifting snow on major roads, including I-75 and US-131.

Midweek, temperatures will stay well below normal, with highs only in the teens and overnight lows near zero. Wind chills could reach -20°F in some areas. The bitter cold will continue through Friday, with another round of snow possible by the weekend.

Drivers should use caution and check road conditions before traveling. Stay indoors when possible, bundle up, and limit exposure to extreme cold.
