Five Arrested in Champaign Gun Violence Investigation; Firearms Recovered

Champaign, IL – Champaign Police served search warrants on six locations on the morning of September 3, 2024, targeting gun violence. Authorities arrested five individuals and seized eight unlawfully possessed firearms in a coordinated effort.

Police executed the warrants at residences on Crescent Drive, W. Springfield Avenue, Nancy Court, Valley Road, and Bruce Drive in Urbana. The operation involved over 80 personnel from five area law enforcement agencies.

Those arrested include Ahmerre McClay, 18; Antoine Jones, 22; Theodis White, 48; Corey Butler, 22, all of Champaign; and a 17-year-old juvenile. Initial charges for all individuals relate to the unlawful possession of firearms.

The investigation is ongoing. Champaign Police request anyone with information about gun violence to contact them at 217-351-4545.
