Wilmington, DE – Delaware’s first snowflakes of the season could arrive before Thanksgiving, as forecasters watch a late-November pattern change bringing colder air and possible light snow to the state.
According to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC) update issued October 24, 2025, the state will remain warmer and mostly dry through the first half of November. However, a cold front expected near November 18–24 could send temperatures tumbling, with flurries or a light wintry mix possible around Wilmington, Dover, and Newark.
While southern Delaware and coastal areas will likely see only rain, forecasters say inland regions could see their first dusting or trace of snow before Thanksgiving week wraps up. Even minor accumulations could create slick spots during early holiday travel periods.
NOAA notes that this system isn’t expected to be a major winter storm—but it may mark the first hint of winter across the First State.
