KANKAKEE, IL — A small fire unfolded this morning at the AHF Armstrong facility in Kankakee.

According to Kankakee Fire, production at the plant came to a sudden halt following a small fire, which officials attribute to a piece of material from the building’s ventilation system.

The Kankakee Fire Department responded to the emergency call around 5 a.m., arriving to find the facility already evacuated. Upon entry, fire crews discovered the blaze in the production area, which had been effectively contained and extinguished by the building’s sprinkler system.

The quick response and effective safety measures in place at AHF Armstrong played a crucial role in averting a potential disaster. No injuries were reported in the incident.
