Fayette County, IA – Two people were injured early Thursday morning after a two-vehicle crash along Highway 3 near Alberta Road, about five miles southeast of Arlington, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the crash occurred around 6:07 a.m. on October 24, 2025, when Frank Lee Goedken, 66, of Lamont, was stopped at a red light in a 1979 GMC truck at a road construction site. A 2006 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Jayden Charles Rouse, 20, of Maynard, allegedly struck the rear of the truck.

According to investigators, both vehicles were considered total losses. Goedken was transported by the Strawberry Point Ambulance to Regional Medical Center Hospital in Manchester with injuries. Rouse was also injured and later taken by personal vehicle to MercyOne Hospital in Oelwein.

Rouse was cited for Failure to Stop Within an Assured Clear Distance, deputies said. The Iowa State Patrol, Strawberry Point Fire Department, and Strawberry Point Ambulance assisted at the scene.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reminded drivers to use extra caution in work zones and early morning conditions as daylight hours shorten across northeast Iowa.
