Bourbonnais, IL – A pedestrian was killed last night after being struck by a car on Route 50 near the Farm and Fleet store. Police responded to the scene just before 8 p.m. after receiving a call about a man down. Upon arrival, officers found a 56-year-old man who had been hit by a southbound vehicle while crossing the road. He was transported to a local hospital but died from his injuries.
According to the Bourbonnais Police Department, the driver of the car, a 44-year-old woman, stopped immediately and called for help. She stated she was unsure of what she had hit. No tickets have been issued, and the police have not filed charges at this time.
Authorities say they are treating the incident as a tragic accident. The crash is still under investigation. Police have withheld the victim’s name, pending notification of his next of kin.
Route 50 was closed for a few hours following the accident while investigators gathered evidence. No further details have been released.
