Will County, IL – A fatal two-vehicle crash closed Wilmington-Peotone Road Thursday morning, claiming the life of one woman and leaving another in critical condition. The crash occurred just before 11 a.m. between South Center Road and 104th Street in Peotone.
According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, a Dodge Caravan crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a Chevrolet Elite traveling eastbound. Emergency personnel extricated both drivers, with no passengers involved. The Caravan’s driver was rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Chevrolet Elite was transported to Riverside Hospital and later airlifted to a Chicago hospital. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash, which led to the closure of Wilmington-Peotone Road for several hours.
