Fatal Crash Claims Life of Alabama Woman, Chicago Man Airlifted in Warren County, Indiana

Warren County, IN – A two-vehicle crash on US 41 left one person dead and several others injured Thursday evening. The collision happened around 7:20 p.m. just south of CR 850 N.

Kelly H. Barnett, 52, of Citronelle, Alabama, drove a 2015 Fiat southbound on US 41. As she entered the northbound lanes, she collided head-on with a 1998 Chevrolet van. Sterling S. Zachery, 48, of Chicago, Illinois, was driving the van northbound.

Barnett died at the scene from her injuries. Emergency crews extracted Zachery from his vehicle, and a medical helicopter flew him to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Three adults and three children in the van also suffered injuries and were taken to area hospitals.

Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating. Multiple agencies assisted, including local law enforcement, fire departments, and EMS teams. No further details are available at this time.
