Wenatchee, Wash. – Triple-digit temperatures could hit much of Central Washington starting Sunday, with highs up to 105°F expected in Wenatchee, Moses Lake, and surrounding areas through Tuesday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, an Extreme Heat Watch is now in effect for cities including Ephrata, Chelan, Othello, Cashmere, and Quincy from 12 p.m. Sunday until 9 p.m. Tuesday. Low temperatures will remain unusually warm—between 65°F and 72°F—offering little overnight relief.
Residents should avoid outdoor activity during peak heat hours, stay hydrated, and check in on vulnerable neighbors. The risk of heat-related illness is especially high for seniors, outdoor workers, and those without access to air conditioning.
Major routes like U.S. Highway 2 and I-90 may see slower traffic or increased emergency calls due to vehicle overheating. Cooling centers may open in Wenatchee and Moses Lake if temperatures hold above 100°F.
This could be the region’s hottest stretch since July 2021, when similar temperatures triggered multiple heat advisories and power grid strain.
Heat alerts may be upgraded to warnings as the event nears. Residents should monitor updates through Tuesday.
