Elmhurst, IL – A rideshare journey ended in an armed robbery early Friday morning, prompting Elmhurst Police to launch a door-to-door investigation in the Elmhurst Terrace Apartments area.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., a rideshare driver reported picking up a passenger in Chicago who, instead of paying the fare, robbed the driver at gunpoint. The suspect, described as a Black male in his 30s wearing a jacket, black pants, white shoes, and carrying a red suitcase, was last seen heading towards the Elmhurst Terrace apartment complex.

According to the Elmhurst Police Department, officers are conducting a thorough search of the area, which includes St. Charles, West Avenue, and Fellows Court. They have increased patrols and are going door-to-door to gather information and alert residents about the incident.

Police urge anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or has information about the suspect to call 911 immediately. Residents are advised to remain vigilant, secure their homes, and report any unusual behavior.
