Elko, NV – A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Central Nevada and the Toiyabe region by the National Weather Service in Elko. The watch will be in effect from Thursday morning through Thursday evening, with gusty winds and extremely low humidity levels posing significant fire risks.

The affected areas include Fire Weather Zones 426, 427, and 470, covering regions such as Northern Nye County, the Mojave, and Eastern Elko County. Winds are forecasted to reach 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, and relative humidity levels could drop as low as 7%.

These conditions are ideal for rapid fire spread, and residents are urged to take precautions, including avoiding activities that could ignite a fire. The combination of strong winds and low humidity makes it difficult for firefighters to control potential fires, which could grow quickly and become life-threatening.
