Lebanon, IN – A high-speed pursuit across multiple Indiana counties ended Monday with the arrest of a 46-year-old Illinois man after he allegedly fled police in a stolen truck and struck a law enforcement vehicle.

According to the Indiana State Police-Lafayette District, the incident began around 11:30 a.m. when off-duty Trooper King observed a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado being driven recklessly in Lebanon. When King attempted a traffic stop, the driver, identified as Rickey Frank of Elgin, Illinois, allegedly refused to stop and fled north on Interstate 65.

Police said Frank exited at State Road 38, weaving through city streets before the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle on Sagamore Parkway. Authorities reported that Frank turned onto Schuyler Avenue, eventually pulling into a fire station lot before striking a Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s vehicle and colliding with a utility pole. Officers safely took him into custody shortly after. A juvenile passenger was also found inside the truck.

Investigators said Frank had multiple outstanding warrants from several Midwest states and Boone County, Indiana. He is also suspected of being involved in a theft in Boone County shortly before the chase.

Frank faces preliminary charges including resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, neglect of a dependent, aggressive driving, criminal recklessness, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving.

The Indiana State Police were assisted in the pursuit and arrest by the Tippecanoe, Clinton, and Boone County sheriff’s offices, Lafayette Police, Purdue Police, West Lafayette Police, Lafayette Fire Department, Tippecanoe County EMS, the Indiana Department of Child Services, and Duke Energy.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
