Spokane, WA – Eastern Washington is bracing for a potentially dangerous weather event today as thunderstorms are expected to sweep across the North Cascades to the Okanogan Highlands, affecting regions close to Spokane. These storms bring with them significant concerns, including the possibility of flash flooding and the risk of wildfires due to abundant lightning.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Spokane, a Red Flag Warning has been issued until 8 p.m. for north-central Washington, including areas near Spokane. Gusty and erratic winds from the thunderstorms could exacerbate critical fire conditions, particularly in the foothills and surrounding forests.
