Gaylord, MI – Northern Michigan is facing continued fire danger today as unseasonably warm temperatures and breezy conditions persist. Residents should remain cautious as winds increase throughout the day, raising the potential for fire spread across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, temperatures will range from 67°F to 78°F today, with elevated fire danger across the area. Rain showers are expected to begin late tonight and persist into Wednesday morning, particularly affecting the eastern Upper Peninsula and the northern Lower Peninsula. Communities near M-32 and surrounding areas should prepare for potential lake-effect showers on Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service also warns that Wednesday will bring a significant cooldown, with highs reaching only 50°F to 60°F as breezy conditions and lingering rain showers continue. Wednesday night temperatures are expected to dip as low as 26°F, signaling a shift toward cooler autumn weather.

Looking ahead, Thursday will see sunny skies with highs near 57°F, followed by rain likely returning Thursday night and into Friday. Friday’s high is forecasted to reach 57°F, with more showers likely throughout the day.
