Philadelphia, PA – Residents of eastern Pennsylvania and parts of New Jersey should prepare for isolated thunderstorms tonight, with an increased risk of severe weather returning Saturday. The National Weather Service warns that storms on Saturday could bring locally heavy rainfall, leading to potential flash flooding in certain areas.

According to the US National Weather Service in Mount Holly, the storm system will be more active as the weekend progresses. On Friday, the region will see partly to mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers and storms during the evening, as temperatures climb to the upper 80s. However, Saturday is the main concern, with widespread showers and thunderstorms expected. Locally heavy rain could cause flash flooding, particularly in low-lying areas and regions near streams and rivers.

The NWS also cautions that coastal areas will experience dangerous rip currents due to offshore swells from Hurricane Ernesto, even though the storm is tracking well offshore. Beachgoers are advised to exercise caution and heed local advisories.

The unsettled weather pattern is expected to continue into Sunday and Monday, with additional showers and thunderstorms possible. Residents should stay informed by monitoring local forecasts and preparing for potential impacts from the storms.
