Eastern Montana Weather: Isolated Thunderstorms Today Before 100-Degree Heat Sunday

Glasgow, Montana – Hot summer weather will continue across northeast Montana through the weekend, with some communities expected to approach or exceed 100 degrees Sunday before a brief cooldown arrives early next week. While most areas stay dry, isolated strong thunderstorms remain possible this weekend, especially across the northwest today and the southeast on Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, afternoon highs will climb into the 90s today, with many locations warming into the upper 90s to near 100 degrees Sunday. Cities including Glasgow, Glendive, Sidney, Wolf Point, Circle, Plentywood and Terry are expected to experience the hottest temperatures, with Circle forecast to reach around 99 degrees today and 100 degrees Sunday.

An isolated chance for showers and thunderstorms develops across northwest Montana later today, with another chance shifting into southeast Montana on Sunday. While storm coverage will remain limited, a few thunderstorms could become severe, producing damaging wind gusts and large hail.

A cooler air mass arrives Monday and Tuesday, bringing temperatures back into the 80s and lower 90s before a gradual warming trend resumes later in the week. Dry weather is expected for much of Monday through Wednesday before thunderstorm chances return toward the end of the week.

Residents should stay hydrated during the afternoon heat, avoid prolonged outdoor activity during peak temperatures and monitor weather updates if thunderstorms develop nearby.
