St. Louis, MO – Eastern Missouri is bracing for a significant heatwave, with the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing a heat advisory from noon to 6 p.m. today. Residents can expect heat index values to soar to around 105 degrees, particularly in east-central Missouri and southwest Illinois.

According to the NWS, this extreme heat is driven by a cold front moving through the region. Residents are urged to take extra precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. The advisory emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated, taking frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and never leaving children or pets in unattended vehicles.

Today’s high temperature is forecasted to reach 93 degrees, with clear conditions and wind gusts up to 12 mph. The heat will persist into the afternoon before temperatures begin to drop in the evening.

Looking ahead, the forecast indicates a break from the intense heat. Wednesday will see a high of 82 degrees, with partly cloudy skies and cooler temperatures continuing into the weekend. Highs will range from the low 80s to the upper 80s, providing some relief from today’s extreme conditions.
