Jackson, KY – Residents of Eastern Kentucky should prepare for a mix of hot and humid conditions with periodic rain chances through Friday as remnants of Hurricane Debby move through the region. According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, a slow-moving cold front combined with moisture from the hurricane is expected to bring showers and thunderstorms to the area, with the greatest likelihood of rain occurring late Thursday and into Friday.

Today, expect partly cloudy skies with high temperatures ranging from 87 to 92 degrees. There’s a 10-30% chance of scattered showers or storms in the afternoon. Tonight, temperatures will drop to between 65 and 71 degrees with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies. Late night and early morning valley fog is likely, especially in low-lying areas.

Thursday will continue the trend of hot and humid weather, with highs again reaching the upper 80s to low 90s. There’s a small potential for showers and thunderstorms, particularly in southeastern Kentucky late in the day. Thursday night brings a slight increase in rain chances, with 10-50% of showers possible as temperatures cool to between 66 and 71 degrees.

Friday’s forecast calls for partly to mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms, particularly in far eastern Kentucky. Highs will range from 82 to 87 degrees. The unsettled weather pattern is expected to taper off by the weekend, with drier and cooler conditions forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
