Jackson, KY – A powerful storm system is set to bring heavy rain and potential thunderstorms to eastern Kentucky this weekend. After a brief break from precipitation, residents should prepare for widespread rainfall and possible flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, scattered showers will linger Thursday but clear by the evening. Friday will remain mostly sunny, with highs ranging from 37 to 46 degrees. However, rain chances increase late Friday night, with a 10-40% chance of showers.

By Saturday, the storm system will strengthen, bringing a 90-100% chance of rain, heavy at times, and possible thunderstorms. High temperatures will range from 50 to 58 degrees. Rain will continue into Saturday night, with heavy downpours likely.
