Lake Charles, LA – Louisiana residents should prepare for severe weather Saturday as a strong upper-level trough moves through the area. Meteorologists warn of potential tornadoes, damaging winds, and hail.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, storm activity could begin Saturday morning and peak in the afternoon. Areas in Central Louisiana face a 30–44% risk of severe storms, while the rest of Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana have a 15–29% risk.

Forecasters urge residents to stay alert for rapidly changing weather conditions. Strong winds may cause power outages, and heavy rainfall could lead to localized flooding. Cooler temperatures will follow the storms, bringing a chance of sub-freezing lows.

A small craft advisory is in effect for coastal waters, with gusts up to 30 knots and seas reaching eight feet. Boaters should exercise caution.

Officials recommend securing outdoor objects, reviewing emergency plans, and having multiple ways to receive weather alerts. Stay updated through the National Weather Service for real-time warnings.
